I rarely report copyright violations of my work. There are too many of them and I don't have the time nor do I care enough to report them all... When I do however, like today, I always seem to get a response that hasn't addressed the issue at all.. Example.. today  I get a message back from my violation report asking me to submit a DMCA takedown notice... (isn't reporting a violation of my own work essentially the same thing?) why do they even staff employees to work on copyright issues if all they do is tell you to submit a DMCA takedown.  Seems like they want to send you through the extra trouble so that you just let it go so they don't have to delete anything. I for one am not really all that concerned about theft of my low res images, but It's a big deal to a lot of people, and out of principle for me, I find it really unprofessional... You'd think a site dedicated purely for art would take the matter a little more seriously.

Sorry I'm not much of a rant person, but this irks me.

Ev'rything we put up on the net can be "reused"...
So...Give away all you publish...
Takes care of violations...
and the slow DA etics department...with all their proceedures(Kafka)...
They are not even equipped for social and or moral issues...!
This site is not purely about art at all...its free...its buisness...
Good on you to rant it out...(massaging the irks)...
The report button is a fiction...you can make one yourself...!
push it until you have steamed off...or realize...this is its purpose...
Greetings Jakob.

Ah, this is quite dA-typical. I, for instance, had at one point reported someone else claiming to be me here, linking to one of their journal pages as evidence.

Response, in short: "Give us evidence. Oh, and an electronic signature so we can be sure it's you who's reporting someone who claims to be you."

Same here. I rarely report something, but sometimes it's a must. I saw someone's page here, not only he had work that he didn't own, but he was selling it as prints! I mean, come on! Seriously? I reported the person in full detail. I took the time to gather links and information on the owner, etc. They only answer that I got back from dA is that I couldn't report it because I wasn't the owner. Very disappointed with dA for many reasons now. That's why I let my Premium expire and I am not renewing. Shame 'cause I've spent a lot of hours here for years. They don't care anymore, why should I?

I've reported several (painfully obvious) violations of copyrighted content that is not my own, but doesn't belong to the person who posted it. No updates, and they still have all the stolen work up on their profile. Just another symptom of DA being too big for its britches and not devoting time to what's really important

Yeah I've had similar problems with DA and their art theft "policies". Luckily I've never come across my own art being stolen, but I have found many cases of artists' work I'm familiar with being stolen. DA truley and honestly doesn't seem to care if anyone but the original artist reports a work. The first art theft I ever reported on DA took admins over a whole year to get back to me on the case, and when they did, it pretty much said that someone looked it over and didn't feel like anything should be done and the issue was closed. Ever since then, I haven't seen the process get any easier or more efficient, if anything, it's gotten worse.

I used to get action on reported violations, but now everything goes unanswered.

I've run into the same thing--they'll delete outright copies of my designs, but apparently stealing my design, having it tattooed on yourself and taking a photo of it to show the world somehow doesn't constitute copyright infringement--WTF? I've thought about sending them a DMCA notice anyway, but I'm afraid of what might happen if DA decides to retaliate by kicking me off the site ... :/

Oh? Sorry to hear your negative experiences with the reports. Mine usually get resolved within the days, a staff member deletes the copy and there's no further hassle. The only thing they ask of me is to link the original deviation when I submit the report and voilà: case closed. I wonder why they're making such a fuss on your end.

Used to be they would not only take it down but they would ban the offender quick smart - so why has that changed?

yeah, their system is really messed up to make do extra work to report something, just so they don't have too. :(
