Ok let's see - we have an image hosted on a profile that is 1 day old and asks you to visit a website with a strange url with a promise of a financial reward on an another website. How do you even imagine that would work? And now, of course, people start crying that their computers got infected with malware. Which is great - every genius who fell for this obvious phishing scam deserved it. I hope your shitty computer burns and you along with it.

Opinions are a Dangerous thing: Art StylesThis isn't about narking on anyone no, infact this is just my own muses really! You could say this is a journal for ENCOURAGEMENT! *SHINES*
I find sticking to one style restrictive if you are a beginning/moderate artist! (even professionals I might say! though I can't speak for everyone)
Having a distinctive look on how your art is done and produced is understandable and its a desire to appear unique to the point some one can just SEE your work and instantly think 'Oh! that's Ten-days!' or something along the line. However, when you are trying to find who you are and what kind of art you are to produce, I recommend trying, well, a lot of different things! Different styles, mixing styles, different colouring techinque, brushes, tools, shading. Don't feel dependant on what you are already doing and don't feel pressured by people just for trying new things!
Push out of your comfort zone. Can't draw hands? don't avoid it! draw the heck out of them! (how else are you going to learn?)

Her staff/rod appears when shes battling with someone.

What I personally find the hardest to draw is feet and hands. I found that with a lot of practice and a lot of frustrating mistakes my feet and hands actually look at the very least almost the way i want them to be.
Now my favorite Style of drawing is Anime or sometimes semi-realism, and i find that by doing studies of the more traditional style realism actually helps improve my anime pictures greatly. For instance i would practice drawing my hands and feet in different positions holding different things and from different angles. I also find it extremely helpful while i'm drawing and i'm having a particularly hard time drawing a hand or a foot in a certain position i will stop for a

Watermarks...

I recently was given a reprieve by the powers that be at Google, and allowed to use my actual name on their site! I took this opportunity to write an article about watermarking that is especially useful to that site, but it definitely is worth a read here on DA as well, because I get a lot of comments about my watermarks. Some good points nate. I always put my watermark in a postion in the photo that I felt looked best. Bad move. It really does make it easier to clone out. Its obvious when you think about but I guess I didn't think about it enough. Thank you.

makes perfect sense to me. I never understood why people get mad about watermarks. I don't personally watermark my own photos. Primarily because I'm not selling anything, and also because I don't think I'm at the level where I would worry about people stealing my art.

But if i was a "real" photographer, who's livelyhood depended on selling my art, i would watermark everything.

Agree with your writing - anything viewable anywhere has marketing potential and when done well doesn't have to sacrifice style.

I actually took my watermark idea from you...I haven't had a theft problem that I know of yet...but I also noted that I-(among others I'm sure) looked you up by your name, and I wanted more "exposure" LOL...I don't find either your larger or small watermark offensive!!

Oh my gosh, I had such a laugh at your watermarked picture in the article XD
Personally, I have never had a problem with your watermarks. I think they are very discrete and far less intrusive than other people's watermarks. It's only your right to put whatever you want on your own photo anyway, and to advertise where the photo came from.
I think EVERYONE, not just "elite" or "popular" artists/photographers should put watermarks on their images.

well said with the article. it is always important to have a watermark on your work even if you your work will get stolen anyway, at least then people who the photo really belongs too. also important to not to make the watermark to distracting from the image.

I completely, 100% agree with you on both sides of your article.

a) Because I think artists and photographers DO have the right to use a watermark (or a signature, in an artist's case.) I sometimes question why people become so obnoxiously anal about this -- I wonder whether they are, at least sometimes, they are the ones who want to profit off the hard work of others. I've seen some pretty obnoxious watermarks, but for the most part, I find that the best artists and photographers use them very tastefully.

b) On the flip side of that, you mentioned that by putting pictures online, you're expecting to see them get around. I agree with this also. On a few occasions, I've found my digital art sneaking around. Either a tattoo design I made for someone winds up, or a photo on a blog, or a drawing of a character on a forum somewhere because I guess it resembles someone's idea of their "OC" ... And honestly? It never bothered me. Friends have told me, "You should write that person a nasty e-mail!" But why would I? I find it flattering. I know my art hasn't always been as good as it has become, and the fact that someone finds it worth borrowing for their own site or collection tells me that it's gone from being like a child's drawing to something worth showing off to someone. I smile when I see my art getting around.

The only thing that DOES annoy me is when people take my signature OUT of the picture -- cloning, as you say. It's a deliberated act of removing what the artist put there to the honor that, frankly, they deserve. It happened with the aforementioned tattoo design I did for a friend -- in a few cases, the picture was just reposted without the signature. Is someone really worried that their tattoo artist was going to mistake the signature as part of the art?

...Actually, I'd like to see that.
