I arrived for this shot well before sunrise and was all set up for a shot of first light. At sunrise i realized that i wasnt going to get my first light shot because the mountain was being blocked by another big mountain to the east. I decided to hang around and see what the light would do and it turned out to be awesome. I had to wait about an hour but the sun slowy crept down the valley and highlighted just the yellow trees.
I went past this same spot the next day on my way to another location and almost every one of the yellow leaves you see in this photo had been blown off by an overnight storm
Mt. Sneffels (14,150 ft)- San Juan Mountains, Colorado
Ah yes. Dallas Divide. Many a wondrous photograph has been taken in this neighborhood. I got about 100 ft. from the top of Sneffels years ago when lightning and hail sent me in full retreat by the seat of my pants. It's an awesome mountain. It's rumored that when Native Americans first scaled it, bear scat was found on its summit. A little trivia for you. Very nice capture.
